  1. Heh, I figured I’d run into this situation eventually, but I didn’t necessarily think I would hit it on the first day:

Ended up voting for The Cart Driver this round, even though they were one of 9 blogs I DIDN’T vote for in the first round that advanced. I guess that’s how things go sometimes.

  2. I just remembered I never thanked Choux for the loltastic visuals from LOLkit’s game. Well thanks a lot. I think.

Which is not the kitsune in this poll, whose blog I do also read… Although lately the output has been down a lot, which I presume is because he’s doing RL stuff.

  3. Honestly, I hope that Sea Slugs gets less than 6 votes one of these rounds just so I can see Kabitzin replace all his writers with monkeys like he said he’d do. But… I ended up giving him my vote. Same with TCD.

This is one of those cases where familiarity captured my votes. Calamitous and Kitsune’s blogs are a couple that I discovered as part of setting this tourney up, so I just don’t have as good a handle of the history of their writing, like I do with SS and TCD. Which isn’t to say they don’t have good stuff, because they do, but it’s like comparing season 1 of a new show to season 8 of a show I’ve been following avidly. Tough contest.

  4. Voted Sea Slugs because it’s a lesson on how to run a good team blog.

Voted Kitsune in the other poll. TCD is just a bunch of fangirling. Have you seen her latest post?

  5. Now these match ups are getting interesting; I’m really looking forward to tomorrow’s round, haha.

“…it’s like comparing season 1 of a new show to season 8 of a show I’ve been following avidly.” That pretty much puts it perfectly.. in the end I went with The Cart Driver and SS since their posts are humorous and pretty fun to read. I really like all the blogs here though.

  6. SS works for me and I’d mark it as one of the 4-5 episodic blogs that I do touch. As for Kitsune vs Scamp, I think Scamp’s stuff is more interesting to read and disagree with. Kitsune plays the nice person role well, but beyond that, there’s not much else.

    • Very true, Kitsune is always nice and relaxing while Scamp is analytical and thought-provoking. I love Kitsune and admire Scamp. That’s why I cast no vote and merely observe for this match.

  7. I don’t get it. Sea Slugs is great with beautiful design and good writing, but it’s just episodic overviews. Choux has cool art and fun posts. I’m voting for her.

  8. Kabitzin & company have one of the most entertaining writing styles of any episodic blog, in the sense that they’re more entertaining than reading a phone book. Calamitous Intent would’ve gotten my vote two years ago. These days it’s down to one writer, and her posts are little more than a teaser title + pics + a couple of sentences.

TCD is a consistently good read. Kitsune writes well but doesn’t write much on topics I’m interested in.

  9. Sea Slugs might be the greatest episodic blog of all time – doesn’t mean much to me because I can’t read the posts, seeing as I don’t follow shows episodically. Not that anything in the first page of Calamitous caught my eye either.

I don’t really care who wins either bracket. I won’t read any of these blogs.

  10. SS is probably the only blog that’ll get me reading episodics about shows I’m not even following/interested in. Even better, I’ll go read some of their posts way after the ‘expiration date’, which is also a rarity for episodic blogs.

  13. Sea slug is one of the first few anime blog that I came across and Kitsune Thought’s Best Anime of the decade compilation list was one of the impetus for me to start writing my blog so my votes have to go with those two:)
